Vitor Pereira shares whether he'll play Matheus Cunha in Wolves' last two games amid Man United transfer links

Wolves have just two games left to play in the Premier League this season – and what level of involvement Matheus Cunha gets will be very interesting.

On Monday, it was reported that Manchester United are close to agreeing a deal to sign Cunha.

The Red Devils have been interested in him for months, but it appears it is now a question of when he joins them, not if.

United are prepared to pay the release clause, although it’s thought the money will not be paid to Wolves all in one go.

At this point, a lot of Wolves fans are tired of the speculation surrounding Matheus Cunha, believing it distracts from the rest of the team.

Wolves have shown they can thrive without Cunha, and yet he is still the most talked about figure at the club.

With reports indicating his move to United is now very close, Vitor Pereira was asked about his potential involvement in the games against Crystal Palace and Brentford.

Pereira faces an interesting situation now going into the final two games.

Realistically, Cunha will not be at Molineux next season. So people have rightly asked whether it would be right for Cunha to feature.

Some don’t feel it’s appropriate, given the player and his agent have actively been facilitating a transfer away from the club.

Earlier today, Pereira wouldn’t be drawn too much on the Cunha speculation. But the Wolves manager doesn’t seem like he’s ready to keep him on the bench.

He said at his press conference yesterday (via E&S): “What I can say to you, he is training very good and he is very happy

“He is trying to help in everything and it means he is a player I can put in to play.

“He is working until the end of the season and at the end of the season we’ll see what happens.

“I don’t read (the news), I didn’t listen to anything, it’s day by day and working. Football is a collective sport, we have a lot of players and most important is the team.”

Some Wolves fans will not like it if Pereira plays Cunha

The team sheet against Crystal Palace and Brentford will be extremely interesting in light of the developments around Cunha.

On the face of it, there are far more reasons for Cunha not to play, than to play.

But even though Wolves are not under threat of being relegated, there is still prize money at stake and Pereira might be inclined to play Cunha as he targets a higher league finish.

Finishing 14th would obviously be much better than finishing 17th, and having a few more million in the bank could help Wolves out in the transfer window or with signing out-of-contract players to new deals.
