Yashita added another gold medal to India’s tally after winning the girls' freestyle wrestling 61kg title at the Asian Youth Games 2025 in Manama, Bahrain, on Tuesday.She beat Kazakhstan’s Zhaidar Mukat 6-5 after a slow start in the final to clinch India’s fourth gold at the ongoing Asian Youth Games.This gold was the second by an individual at the Games after weightlifter Priteesmita Bhoi. The other two golds by India were won by their men’s and women’s kabaddi teams.India also claimed a bronze medal in the mixed doubles table tennis event after the duo of Syndrela Das and Sarthak Arya lost the semi-finals in heartbreaking fashion.Squaring off against Tang Yiren and Hu Yi of the People’s Republic of China at the Exhibition Hall Bahrain, Syndrela Das and Sarthak Arya began the match promisingly by winning the first two games.However, the Chinese duo rallied and won the next three games to overcome Syndrela Das and Sarthak Arya 3-2 (5-11, 9-11, 11-9, 11-8, 11-9) and enter the final.India also won a bronze medal in boxing after Anant Deshmukh lost 5-0 to Daniyal Shalkarbay of Kazakhstan in the semi-finals of the boys' 66 kg category.However, six Indian boxers advanced to the finals after winning their respective semi-final bouts. In the girls’ section, Khushi Chand (46kg), Chandrika Pujari (54kg), Harnoor Kaur (66kg), Anshika (+80kg) and Ahaana (50kg) will fight for gold on Thursday.Lanchenba Singh Moibungkhongbam (50kg) was the only Indian to make it to the final of a boys’ boxing event.The three medals on Tuesday saw India’s overall tally at the Asian Youth Games rise to 27 - four gold, 10 silver and 13 bronze.India failed to add any medals to their tally on Monday but Dhinidhi Desinghu set a new national record in 400m freestyle swimming, clocking 4:21.86 seconds to finish fifth in the girls’ final. She bettered her own record of 4:24.60.
