Sky Sports pundit believes Man Utd are heading in the right direction, ‘like old times…’

Former Arsenal star Alan Smith believes Manchester United are showing positive signs now that their new signings are settling in, after winning three consecutive games for the first time under Ruben Amorim.

Manchester United are showing good form for the first time under Ruben Amorim, despite enduring a slow start to the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.

To win a third game on the bounce, United beat Brighton 4-2 less than a week after beating Liverpool at Anfield. The next objective is to stretch the winning streak to four matches when the Red Devils travel to Nottingham Forest this weekend.

United fans will hope that this winning run turns into something significant, with games coming up against Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Crystal Palace.

Critics will be eating their words if United can continue their strong form for the remainder of the campaign. It would ease a lot of the pressure on Amorim.

Alan Smith believes Man Utd are heading in the right direction

United are the biggest story in football: win, lose or draw.

Sky Sports News have been rounding up their pundits with questions on the current situation at Old Trafford.

A few weeks ago, Sky Sports had multiple shows dedicated to discussing Amorim’s future. That changed when Sir Jim Ratcliffe gave his public backing to the United head coach.

Former Arsenal striker Alan Smith believes the mood has lifted at United, thanks to how Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha have settled.

“The signs are good,” Smith said when asked about United’s recent form.

“Talking about the new lads settling, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have taken to life at Manchester United really smoothly.

“When you’ve got Bruno Fernandes behind, Mason Mount… they’ve got a lot of very good attacking players.

“Sesko, the young centre forward, is taking more time to settle but Ruben Amorim will be a lot happier. There’s a real good feeling within Old Trafford. It is a bit like old times.

“It is too early to think they are back for good and they’re going to be challenging at the top. It’s certainly a lot, lot better than last season and the first few weeks of this [campaign].

“A bit of relief at Old Trafford. Finally things are heading in the right direction.”

Man Utd looking for revenge against Nottingham Forest

Forest did the double over United last season, so there are plenty of reasons for the Red Devils to seek revenge when they return to the City Ground.

Former United forward Anthony Elanga scored the game’s only goal in the 5th minute, but the Sweden international has since left Forest to sign for Newcastle.

It will be Forest’s first time facing United with Sean Dyche in the hotseat. He has only beaten United once in 18 occasions as Burnley manager.
