Manchester United's hopes of fulfilling Ruben Amorim's ambitions are on a tight schedule. The Portuguese manager is eager to improve the club's Premier League standing, following a disappointing 15th place finish.

This summer presents Amorim with his first chance to guide the club through pre-season, allowing for a more significant period to secure new signings after the January additions of Ayden Heaven and Patrick Dorgu. It also marks the moment when Amorim had initially hoped to join Old Trafford, before being informed he would have to wait until January.

The initial summer transfer window remains open until 10 June, before reopening for business from 16 June. United have already confirmed the signing of Matheus Cunha in a deal worth £62.5million, but there is plenty of work to be done.

Amorim reportedly viewed his initial months at United as a firefighting exercise, as the club failed to secure European football. Now, the-40-year old is keen for a fresh start.

As per ESPN (via the Mirror) , he is hoping to make at least one more new signing while also offloading at least four surplus players. The squad is set to head to Chicago on 22 July - a deadline that Amorim would like to see these issues resolved by.

Following the acquisition of Cunha, United are now looking to sign Bryan Mbeumo. The Cameroon international is eager to make the move, although United still need to reach an agreement with Brentford.

It seems that departures may be more crucial for maintaining a stable environment under Amorim's management. Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Antony are all available for transfer, while Alejandro Garnacho also faces an unclear path ahead.

Chelsea paid a £5million fee to avoid signing Sancho permanently, while Rashford is reportedly favouring a move to Barcelona, who might prefer a loan deal for the forward. Antony, on the other hand, had a promising loan spell at Real Betis, while Garnacho has been instructed to seek a new club following an end-of-season disagreement.

If these deals aren't finalised before United's tour of the United States, it places Amorim and the club in a tricky situation regarding how to incorporate such players. Taking them on tour could disrupt Amorim's preparations, whereas leaving them out could result in their market values plummeting rapidly.

Amorim has spoken about United's summer plans. "Without Champions League, we don't need a big squad, we can control the squad in a better way," he stated.

"Then we have a plan that is to bring some new players, of course. But our big plan is to improve the team that we have, is to improve our academy, because I think that is the future. It was the past, so can be the future.

"It's not going to change so much because we have the financial fair play rules. We are not allowed to do much this summer, even with Champions League, so we are prepared for that.

"It's important to stick together. We are going to struggle, it is not going to be everything right away but I have a feeling and I see the team improving and that is the most important thing."
