Women’s Tennis Alumni Excelling on the Professional Stage

MALIBU, Calif. – Pepperdine women's tennis continues to make its mark on the international and professional stage as several former Waves have earned impressive victories this fall and climbed the global rankings on the professional circuit.

Janice Tjen ('24) has been one of the breakout stars of the fall season. The Jakarta native recently captured the W125 Jinan Open singles title and followed that up by claiming the Guangzhou Open doubles championship, highlighting her versatility and rise in both singles and doubles on the WTA circuit. Tjen has soared to a career-high WTA singles ranking of No. 82, becoming one of Indonesia's highest-ranked players in over 20 years.

Savannah Broadus ('25) continued her strong momentum on the ITF tour by winning the ITF W35 Norman doubles title this past week. In September, Broadus also captured the ITF W15 Kayseri doubles title in Turkey, marking two titles in the months as she establishes herself as a rising force in doubles play.

Luisa Stefani ('18), one of the most accomplished alums in the pro ranks, remains a fixture among the world's elite. Currently ranked No. 16 in the WTA doubles rankings, Stefani recently teamed with Tímea Babos to win the Toray Pan Pacific Open doubles title in Tokyo this past week. The victory adds another to Stefani's impressive career, which includes multiple WTA crowns and an Olympic bronze medal.

Lisa Zaar ('23) has also found success in Europe, earning back-to-back ITF W35 doubles titles in Santa Margherita di Pula, Italy this month. Zaar posted a career-best WTA doubles ranking of No. 172 this past week, showcasing her steady rise on the professional tour.
