ITTF World Table Tennis Championships Finals 2025: World number one Lin Shidong out, China dominate women’s semis

The world’s number one ranked table tennis player is out of the 2025 ITTF World Championships Finals in Doha, Qatar.

The People’s Republic of China’s Lin Shidong lost to compatriot Liang Jingkun Friday in an epic match that went the distance. In the end, Liang triumphed 4–3 over his teammate to advance to the tournament’s semi-finals.

Liang will face Hugo Calderano next. The Brazilian defeated the Republic of Korea's An Jaehyun 4-1 in the quarter-finals to earn his spot in the final four.

China’s second-seeded Wang Chuqin moved on after an easy 4–0 win over Chinese Taipei’s Lin Yun-Ju.

The men’s semi-finals were completed by Sweden’s Truls Moregard, who ended the run of 27th seed Togami Shunsuke of Japan 4–2 to advance.
