Alex Eala to open Wimbledon campaign against defending champ Barbora Krejcikova
Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala will open her campaign in Wimbledon on Monday against defending champion Barbora Krejcikova of the Czech Republic.The 29-year old Krejcikova is currently 17th in the world rankings and has also won the French Open in 2021.Krejcikova stands at 5-foot-10 and has reached no. 2 in her career ranking in 2022.In the Eastbourne Open, Krejcikova reached the quarterfinals but withdrew due to a thigh injury. This allowed Varvara Gracheva to advance to the semifinals, but eventually fell to Eala.Eala, meanwhile, will be coming off the Eastbourne Open finals where she will face Maya Joint.—JKC, GMA Integrated News
