Son Heung-min has completed his MLS record move to LAFC and Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has had his say on the transfer.

The Los Angeles side have signed the 33-year-old for more than £20million as he entered the final 11 months of his contract. Son spent a decade at the north London club, winning the Premier League Golden Boot, the Puskas Award and ended it all by lifting the Europa League trophy in May as Spurs captain.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy said: "Sonny is one of the greatest players to ever wear the famous Lilywhite shirt and he has been a joy to watch over the past decade. Not only is he a wonderfully gifted footballer, but he’s also an incredible human being who has touched hearts and inspired people throughout the club and all over the world.

"The Europa League triumph in Bilbao was a truly magical moment in the club’s history and Sonny lifting the trophy is a perfect lasting memory from his fantastic decade at Tottenham Hotspur.

"Sonny has given so much to this club, both on and off the pitch, and for that we are forever grateful. We wish him all the best for the future, and he will always be welcome back at the club as a beloved and cherished member of our Spurs family."

Son had told football.londonout in Korea on Saturday about his decision to ask to leave Tottenham and make the move to Major League Soccer.

"It was the most difficult decision of my career. I have been here for 10 years. It’s a beautiful club with beautiful fans. I have such amazing memories. It was so hard to make the decision. I just felt like I needed a new environment to push myself to get more out of me I think I needed a little bit of change. 10 years is a long time," he said.

"I came to north London as a kid. 23 years old, a very young age. A boy who couldn’t speak English. I leave this club as a grown man. Thank you to all the Spurs fans who have given me so much love. It felt like it was my home. It was one of the toughest decisions I ever made. I think it is the right time to leave. I hope that everyone understands that and respects that."
