Ian Wright left stunned by what Sean Dyche has told him about Everton, 'what on earth is going on'

Everton finally look like a club getting back on track following years of struggles under Farhad Moshiri.

The Friedkins have provided Everton with a new lease of life since being handed the keys back in December.

David Moyes has returned to the club and transformed their fortunes, but a lot of work still needs to be done in the summer window.

Everton are set to be financially backed by the Friedkins when the window opens, though.

However, that was not always the case when Sean Dyche was the manager of the club as he endured some difficult years off the pitch.

Although the 53-year-old was unable to push on with Everton before his sacking, the circumstances were often against him.

And he has now shared some insight as to how bad things got at Goodison Park.

Jamie Carragher thinks Arsenal are copying one Dyche tactic from his days at Everton.

MORE EVERTON STORIES

But there is a world between the two Premier League sides currently and a lot of that has to do with the running of the two clubs.

Better times are on the horizon, but Dyche told the Stick to Football podcast about the moment he was informed of Everton’s 10 point deduction.

“So, the next season, I’m sitting there in Dubai – international break by the way – and I get a phone call from Kevin Thelwell,” he said.

“And he goes: ‘We’ve just been deducted 10 points’. I’d never even been told anything about it. I was like: ‘What on earth is going on? Are you kidding me?’ Where has that snowballed from? How has that happened without any form of me knowing?”

A stunned Ian Wright simply responded: ‘Wow!’

Dyche remains out of work but there are a number of Championship openings set to become available in the coming weeks.

The 53-year-old will remain a divisive figure among Evertonians, but it would be fair to say that he did well to keep the club afloat last season.

Sean Dyche has praised David Moyes for his Everton turnaround

The time was right for Dyche to move on from Everton in January.

Not only was the side struggling on the pitch, but it was the perfect opportunity for the Friedkins to bring someone in that they actually wanted.

To be fair to him, since leaving, Dyche has praised Moyes for the work he has done to turn things around on Merseyside.

What will now be interesting is to see where the former Everton boss ends up with his next job.
