The IPL 2025 is all set to resume on May 17 (Saturday) after a week of being suspended due to the tensions between India and Pakistan, with a match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Gujarat Titans are one of the teams that are in pole position to reach the IPL 2025 playoffs, and given their form, they might even win their second-ever title. However, they might miss the services of one of their key performers, Jos Buttler for a crucial stage of the tournament.

According to ESPN Cricinfo, Jos Buttler is set to miss the IPL 2025 playoffs, if GT qualify. This is because he is part of the England squad that are set to take on West Indies in a three-match ODI series which takes place from May 29 to June 3. The IPL 2025 playoffs will be held in this exact same period. The Qualifier 1 will be held on May 29, while the final takes place on June 3.

Jos Buttler has been a key part of the Gujarat Titans batting order that has wreaked havoc in IPL 2025. He has scored 500 runs from 11 games at an average of 71.43, including five fifties.

Who Will Replace Jos Buttler?

The ESPN Cricinfo report states that Sri Lanka wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Mendis will join the squad in the IPL 2025 playoffs. He was playing for the Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025. However, the Sri Lankan star will skip the remainder of the PSL 2025 , as the report states that he will not return to Pakistan citing security reasons.

Kusal Mendis was in superb form in the PSL 2025. He scored 143 runs at a strike rate of 168 in five matches for his team.
