Brian Bennett, the Zimbabwe opener, has been ruled out of the remainder of the first Test against South Africa in Bulawayo after being diagnosed with a mild concussion following a blow to his helmet on Sunday (June 29). Prince Masvaure has been named Bennett's replacement for the rest of the game.

Bennett was struck on his helmet by a bouncer from Kwena Maphaka in the sixth over of Zimbabwe's innings - he tried to play a pull shot but missed the ball. He was on 19 off 25 at that time and it appeared like he was good to continue after the physio did a concussion test.

But after facing three deliveries from Codi Yusuf in the next over, Bennett decided to leave the field and a media release from Zimbabwe Cricket later stated that it was a mild concussion.

"Zimbabwe opener Brian Bennett will play no further part in the ongoing Test match against South Africa at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo after being diagnosed with a mild concussion," the release stated. "As per concussion protocols, he will take no further part in the match. Prince Masvaure has been named as his replacement, making his 10th appearance in Test cricket."
