Man Utd Want £200,000-a-Week 'Monster' to Replace Bruno Fernandes if he Leaves

Manchester United could look to complete a move for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes in the upcoming transfer window, according to reports - with current star Bruno Fernandes potentially being on his way to Saudi Arabia in a shock move in the summer months.

Fernandes has been United's saviour and shining star for over five years now, scoring 98 goals for the club in all competitions, as well as recording a further 86 assists - and although his form in the Premier League has suffered, an outstanding European campaign will continue to put him on the map in the Middle East. That could see him depart, and Guimaraes has been earmarked as a potential replacement for his services.

Report: Bruno Guimaraes 'on Man Utd Shortlist' to Replace Bruno Fernandes

The Brazilian has been in fine form and could make the move across the north

The report by Fichajes states that Fernandes is currently 'considering' his future at United, and his agent has met with Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal - prompting the Red Devils to look for replacements for their Portuguese 'magnifico'.

Bruno Guimaraes's Premier League statistics - Newcastle squad ranking Stats Output Squad rank Appearances 36 1st Assists 6 =2nd Key Passes Per Game 1.3 =2nd Tackles Per Game 2.1 =1st Dribbles Per Game 0.9 4th Match rating 7.00 3rd

As a result, Guimaraes has found himself on their shortlist as an immediate replacement for the playmaker, after yet another strong season for Newcastle. His goal against Chelsea on Sunday afternoon saw him record his fifth Premier League goal of the campaign, and having started every single top-flight game for the Magpies in the current campaign, the captain has become an indispensable member of their first-team, being touted as a 'monster' for his efforts.

Fernandes' future was thought to be clear, with the Red Devils skipper insisting that he would stay at Old Trafford - but a meeting between his agent and Al-Hilal has sparked rumours that an exit may be viable, especially if they can offer him £30million-per-season, a wage that United simply cannot match.

However, United have looked to combat that by activating their interest in Guimaraes, who has stood out this season. Despite the Brazilian stating that he feels at home at Newcastle on a reported £200,000-per-week contract, his career is coming on leaps and bounds, and Fichajes believe that he could feel 'tempted' to succeed at one of the most historic clubs in English football as a result.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Bruno Guimaraes has 33 appearances for Brazil's national team, scoring one goal.

Ruben Amorim would undoubtedly welcome the 27-year-old to the club, with Guimaraes having made 122 Premier League appearances for the Tyneside club, scoring 21 goals and registering 20 assists in the process - seeing Newcastle all but qualifying for the Champions League in two of his three full seasons at the club.
