Alexander Isak Liverpool transfer alternative clear as update issued on striker

Liverpool have been linked with Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak and PSG forward Bradley Barcola in the summer transfer window amid huge changes to Arne Slot's squad

Liverpool have been handed a reported update on Reds-linked striker Alexander Isak. The Swedish star made his way back to England this week, having trained with his old club Real Sociedad whilst his Newcastle United teammates were away on their pre-season tour.

The Reds have already had a bid rejected for the forward, who is eager to depart, with rumours suggesting that the Magpies would need to secure a suitable replacement and receive an acceptable offer before approving his exit. Other reports are claiming that Newcastle will not allow their star striker to leave at all this summer.

Liverpool are also being linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola. Claims in French publication L'Equipe state that the Reds are looking into signing either Barcola or Real Madrid star Rodrygo before the summer window closes on September 1.

It is reported that Liverpool have 'been following him for a long time' and could try and persuade him to join Arne Slot's side. The 2025 Champions League winners spent €50million to buy Barcola from Lyon two years ago.

However, journalist Fabrizio Romano, has claimed that the focus is very much on Isak at Anfield although Barcola is of interest.

"Liverpool maintain their focus on Alexander Isak," he said in his latest YouTube video.

"We know there's appreciation for Barcola, I told you in the past few days if they can't get Isak, Barcola will be the top target for Liverpool but at the moment their focus remains at least this week, we will see what happens next week, but this week their focus is on Isak.

"They like Barcola, they appreciate Barcola, who doesn't - one of the best wingers in the world - but their absolutely main focus is Alexander Isak."
