The Japan international has explained why he sought out a conversation with the new head coach following his appointment at the Reds last summer.

As well as a desire to adapt as quickly as possible to Slot’s style of play, Endo – who had been brought to the club 12 months earlier by Jürgen Klopp – affirmed his openness to perform any role that would aid the boss and the team.

“I met with Arne to try to get how he wants to play, to understand what his tactics are,” the No.3 recalled of their chat ahead of 2024-25, speaking in the latest edition of LFC’s official eMagazine.

“That’s what I tried to adapt to in the training camp in pre-season because everyone needed to adapt to his football.

“We tried to do that last season and it worked very well because we won the Premier League.

“When I spoke with Arne I said I don’t mind where I play. I can play as a six, at right-back or at centre-back – I don’t mind and I will just always give 100 per cent to the team.

“I used to play centre-back when I was in Japan so I don’t mind where I play for Liverpool.”
