Viktor Gyokeres transfer twist as Man United learn who furious striker 'wants calls from'

Viktor Gyokeres has decided that he would prefer to join either Arsenal or Juventus this summer, as he continues to be linked with a move away from Sporting CP

Viktor Gyokeres is reportedly favouring a move to Arsenal or Juventus this summer, even over long-time admirers Manchester United, and the Swedish striker would even prefer to join Manchester City or Liverpool.

Gyokeres has established himself as one of Europe's top strikers, scoring an impressive 97 goals in just 102 games for Portuguese club Sporting CP, contributing significantly to their two league titles.

When head coach Ruben Amorim left Sporting to take charge at Old Trafford last November, there were suggestions that Gyokeres might follow him, given United's struggling forward line.

Despite the Red Devils' persistent pursuit of the 27-year-old this summer, reports earlier this month indicated that Gyokeres had rejected the idea of a reunion in Manchester.

Portuguese publication A Bola now say that Gyokeres is growing frustrated with the lack of progress on his transfer, but has identified the clubs he would like to join during this window. These include Mikel Arteta's Arsenal and Juventus, who have allegedly put forward a substantial £11-million-a-year wage offer.

The report suggests that five clubs have shown interest in signing Gyokeres, who is currently enjoying a well-deserved holiday.

In England, both United and Arsenal have long been known to admire the prolific striker, while Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli are among the other potential suitors.

However, it appears that Gyokeres has set his sights on a move to either Arsenal or Juventus, adding insult to injury for United by also expressing an openness to approaches from their rivals, City and Liverpool.

The Swedish star, valued at £70million, is reportedly more inclined towards transfers to top-tier clubs such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG or Bayern Munich, and is said to be 'upset' that he hasn't been permitted to make a move yet.

While Gyokeres has seemingly made it abundantly clear that a transfer to Arsenal would be his preferred Premier League destination, the Gunners look on the verge of securing the services of another marksman.

German publication BILD reports that RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko is close to joining the Gunners, with personal terms already agreed upon. Given Leipzig's failure to qualify for European football this season, a fee in the region of £85m could clinch the deal.

The Swede might then shift his focus to his other preferred club, Juventus, who, according to Corriere dello Sport, have proposed a lucrative £11m per year deal to lure him to Serie A.

With Gyokeres' move to United looking increasingly unlikely, Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike has emerged as another potential recruit to boost United's attacking options.

As initially reported by The Times, Amorim's side are considering a bid for the Frenchman, who has been given a £60m price tag after scoring 22 goals across all competitions last season.

"I'm glad we have him [Ekitike]. If he decides otherwise, that's our motto: If a player develops faster than us, we let him go," Frankfurt chief Markus Kroshce stated, ahead of a transfer window that is expected to be filled with drama.
