Marcus Rashford had his most successful period for Manchester United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but the former head coach admitted that the 28-year-old looked unhappy at Old TraffordFormer Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted he cannot pinpoint the reason for Marcus Rashford's struggles at Old Trafford. The Norwegian compared the United academy graduate to Erling Haaland, highlighting how the English star now seems to be enjoying his time on the pitch. The 28-year-old has made a good start in La Liga with Barcelona following his summer move from United. Rashford's future at Ruben Amorim's side looks uncertain, but all signs point towards a potential permanent exit for the England international. After finding himself frozen out at United, Rashford has spent two temporary spells away from the club previously with Aston Villa and now Barcelona - but his performances have earned him a place back in the Three Lions set-up as a result.OPINIONOPINIONIt was under Solskjaer that Rashford made his most appearances for United, and his most fruitful, after scoring 55 goals in 135 matches, contributing 36 assists.Rashford had made over 100 appearances under Erik ten Hag and Jose Mourinho, scoring 42 and 28 in 113 and 125 outings respectively. But the United icon struggled to come up with a reason for Rashford's eventual struggles at United as he admitted that it eventually looked like he didn't enjoy his football anymore."I've not spoken to Marcus since I've left, I text him a little bit but circumstances," he said speaking on Stick to Football. I don't know what’s happened in his life but you can see he's certainly enjoying it now in Barcelona."It looked like he didn't enjoy himself here. I don't think that's just Man United [not enjoying it], it's everywhere."All the pressures, every single one is different, we don't know what's happened to the players when they walk in in the morning grumpy, that's the manager's job: 'what's up? I can see something's wrong.'"We don't know what's happened, we just want him to do well, he's an incredible player when he's in in form and happy, he's got that energy."I go back to Erling Haaland, just the energy that he shows all the time, when he's on the pitch, he shows that enthusiasm and energy, that's the least."But what is it? Life? Too many games? We don’t know but he's found the right balance."Here at The Manchester Evening News, we are dedicated to bringing you the best Manchester United coverage and analysis.Make sure you don't miss out on the latest United news by joining our free WhatsApp group.
