Arsenal reportedly land Viktor Gyokeres, Stan Sport, how to watch in Australia

Arsenal have reportedly landed coveted Sweden striker Viktor Gyokeres in a bid to take them from nearly men to trophy winners.

According to reports, the Gunners have reached a verbal agreement with Sporting Lisbon on a five year deal worth $114 million with $18m in add-ons.

The 27-year-old scored 54 goals in 52 games for Sporting last season to make him one of the hottest targets in Europe.

Arsenal finished last season without silverware despite often playing superb football.

Mikel Arteta's team came second in the Premier League but scored 17 goals less than champions Liverpool.

Arsenal's leading goal scorer in the Premier League was Kai Havertz with nine.

"Brentford have got three players in double figures in the Premier League," Stan Sport's Mark Pougatch said.

"Arsenal don't have any. Well, frankly, that's ridiculous if you're trying to win the Champions League or the Premier League.

"I know they've had injuries, but they just don't have enough goals for all their good work in the middle of the field."

Arsenal has not won major silverware since lifting the FA Cup nearly five years ago in Arteta's first season in charge.

Arteta has also signed midfielders Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard from Real Sociedad and Brentford respectively.

The Gunners have also lured goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and Noni Madueke away from fierce London rivals Chelsea.

The Premier League kicks off on August 16 (AEST) with a clash between Liverpool and Bournemouth.

Arsenal open their campaign with a mouthwatering away trip to Manchester United on August 18 (AEST).
