Romano: Update as 'Unplayable' Man Utd Target Cleared to Travel for Talks

Manchester United's search for Liam Delap could go on a little bit longer than anticipated, Fabrizio Romano has told GIVEMESPORT's 'Market Madness' podcast - with the Ipswich Town striker being one of 'many options' for Ruben Amorim's side to consider.

Reports earlier in the week suggested that Delap has been given permission by his current employers to travel for talks with other teams, with Ipswich's relegation to the Championship being confirmed earlier in the campaign, and that has activated a supposed £30million release clause which would only become available upon confirmation of their return to the second-tier.

There are other strikers that the Red Devils could look to consider

Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Cunha is one star who looks to be on his way to Old Trafford, with reports suggesting that he is closing in on a move as his own £62.5million release clause is waiting to be activated by various interested clubs, though United look set to win that race.

However, it won't stop them searching for a new talisman, and Delap is in their sights, alongside other Premier League clubs who have seen the Ipswich star bag 12 goals for his club in his full debut season in the top-flight.

However, despite being asked by Ben Jacobs whether the Ipswich star will make a 'quick decision' on his future once the season ends, Romano stated that although Delap does have interest from United, the Red Devils have plenty of options.

And a decision may be made based on whether they qualify for the Champions League or not. He said on GIVEMESPORT's Market Madness podcast:

"We have to see how quick, because obviously now Liam Delap is hearing clubs' projects, trying to understand what is the best opportunity. "So I don't know how quick it will be, but for sure, the player is already preparing for his move, because there is interest from Manchester United - but he's not the only striker in the list. "There are more options, so for Manchester United, I would keep the situation open because United have several opportunities - also based on what happens with Champions League football or not."

Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have only scored seven Premier League goals between them this season, and there is a need for a star to come in and nail down a first-team spot at Old Trafford - though who they will opt for alongside Cunha remains a mystery.
