Who is Marcus Mariota's wife, Kiyomi Cook?

Kiyomi Cook is a former college soccer player and a soccer coach. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in human physiology and psychology from the University of Oregon. At the University of Oregon, Kiiyomi was a midfielder for the Ducks women's soccer team. At the same institution, she met her now-husband, Marcus Mariota, and the duo went on to become college sweethearts. After graduating from the University of Oregon, Kiyomi completed a master's degree in exercise and nutrition science from Lipscomb University.

After college, Kiyomi Cook coached soccer at the University School of Nashville and Father Ryan High School between 2015 and 2020. Besides her soccer venture, she is the social media director for her husband's nonprofit organisation, the Motiv8 Foundation. She has also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. Beyond her impressive educational qualifications and professional life, Kiyomi is a loving wife and a doting mother to her and Marcus' only child.

Marcus Mariota and Kiyomi Cook's story started as college sweethearts

Marcus Mariota and Kiyomi Cook met in 2014 as student-athletes of the University of Oregon. Marcus was the Ducks' star quarterback, while Kiyomi played for the women's soccer team. The following year, in 2015, the college sweethearts made their relationship public when they were spotted together at an NFL Draft party in Honolulu, Hawaii. In a 2016 interview with The Tennessean, the Commanders star talked candidly and warmly about his relationship with Kiyomi. According to him, they were like any other ordinary couple, enjoying ordinary dates like watching a Broadway show or listening to music together. He said:

"We don't have a whole lot of [free] time, but we kind of just got to see Broadway a little bit and heard a lot of music at the country bars. It was a lot of fun."

Because of their busy work lives, Marcus and Kiyomi had little free time and could not meet often. However, they had fun doing little activities whenever they were together. The couple got engaged in June 2020 after dating for several years, with Mariota proposing in Eugene, Oregon. They officially got married in July 2021. The dreamy wedding ceremony was held in the same state where their love first caught the attention of onlookers, Hawaii. A year and a half into marriage, the couple's family grew with the arrival of their daughter, Makaia Kei Mariota. She was born in December 2022 and is currently almost 3 years old.
