Evans, who is in the final stages of completing his UEFA A Licence, will lead on loans for United’s young players as well as work closely with director of football, Jason Wilcox, and the director of Academy to further enhance processes which maximise individual player development and prepare young talent to perform in the first team.Evans’s transition into the role confirms the end of his illustrious playing career. Across his two stints at United, the Academy graduate made 241 appearances and won the Champions League, three Premier League titles, the FA Cup and two League Cups.In total, Evans made 536 senior appearances, whilst serving five clubs with his characteristic professionalism. At international level, he earned 107 caps for Northern Ireland and was awarded an MBE in 2023 for his services to football.
