Coco Gauff is off to a winning start in Paris as she breezed into the second round of the 2025 French Open with a comfortable win on Tuesday (27 May).

The women’s tennis world number two opened her tournament at Roland-Garros with a 6-2, 6-2 victory against Australia’s world no. 91 Olivia Gadecki.

Despite forgetting to bring her racquets on court ahead of the match, Gauff was unfazed as she raced into an early 3-0 lead on Court Philippe-Chatrier, playing her first match on the court since the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

Gadecki reduced the deficit with a break before bringing it back to 2-3, in what was the 23-year-old’s first main draw appearance on the Parisian clay.
