Arsenal appear to have a clear idea of the new signings they want to bring in during this summer's transfer window. The 2024/25 season looks set to be another disappointing one for Mikel Arteta and his players with their Champions League exit coming 10 days after Liverpool were crowned Premier League champions.

With the Gunners going so close to glory once again, a hugely important trading period awaits and it is one that Arteta is looking forward to. "Very much [so], yeah. Already with the players that we have and having everybody fit and available, we are a super strong team," the Arsenal boss said when asked if he was excited for the summer.

"What we've done in the Champions League semi-final, we haven't done in 20 years in this football club with the actual players that we have right now. Very, very positive about it."

Though the summer window does not open for another month, Arsenal's first deal is nearing completion with an agreement in principle reached for Martin Zubimendi. The Real Sociedad midfielder has been strongly linked to an exit over the last few years and now his next move looks to have been decided.

Further incomings are likely for Arsenal with Arteta having identified five positions he wants to strengthen with Zubimendi set to fill one of those.

Football.london understands the club want at least one other forward, a back-up goalkeeper, defender and there is hope for a wide player too. Deals for players in those roles have been worked on under the expectation that Zubimendi would be joining with the Gunners having been confident in signing him for some time.

In terms of the players that fit those requirements, Joan Garcia is the obvious option to support David Raya with interest in the Espanyol shot-stopper present since last summer. Viktor Gyokeres currently appears to be the most likely striker addition for a number of reasons.

Andrea Berta's admiration for the Sporting CP star is one of those with his relatively low asking price likely another. Nico Williams, Kingsley Coman and Bryan Mbeumo are just a few winger options with Arteta more in need of depth on the left as Bukayo Saka and Ethan Nwaneri can play on the opposite flank.

A defensive acquisition is where things get interesting especially given Myles Lewis-Skelly's rise and the recent displays of Jakub Kiwior.

However, with Oleksandr Zinchenko likely to depart while Riccardo Calafiori and Takehiro Tomiyasu have been plagued by very different issues, a left-back could potentially join especially as Lewis-Skelly's future is also quite clearly in midfield.

Based on links in recent years, Ajax's Jorrel Hato could be the perfect signing but Arsenal will face competition from Liverpool if they choose to pursue the teenager.
