Ally McCoist reveals Celtic transfer fear over Dominic Calvert-Lewin 'no-brainer'The rumour has caught the attention of the Ibrox hero after the England cap left EvertonAlly McCoistWorried Ally McCoist reckons Dominic Calvert-Lewin would be a hit if he made the move to Celtic - despite major fitness concerns over the free agent.The Rangers hero admits he wouldn't want to see the 11-time England cap do TOO well in Glasgow against his beloved Light Blues.The 28-year-old's Everton contract has now expired bringing his nine-year long stint with The Toffees to an end.The striker 71 goals in 273 games for the club after his £1.5m move from Sheffield United - but has been hampered by a series of injury problems in recent years.He enjoyed his peak run of form in an Everton shirt in the 2020/21 Premier League season - netting 33 goals - but since that campaign fitness issues have plagued the frontman.Last season only managed three goals in 26 appearance - and was sidelined between January and May due to another injury.Article continues belowBut speaking to the talkSPORT Breakfast Show, McCoist backed Brendan Rodgers to get the best out of the struggling striker after bringing up the rumour on air.He said: "I tell you right now, it's fitness - it's fitness for me. You get him on the pitch and he would absolutely do well for Celtic, there is no doubt about it."Pacy, good in the air, score you goals - just a question mark over fitness, that's all I've got."Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Image: PA )Host Jeff Stelling added: "I think it's an absolute no-brainer. No-brainer. They are getting him on a free transfer, OK the wages will be big, but we know he can play."And I think it's a good move for him. He will score goals there, regain his confidence, play European football - and I am not being disrespectful to Celtic because it's a massive club - but in a couple of years time, get back in the Premier League."McCoist rounded off with a tongue-in-cheek caveat: "I just want to see him fit, and I just want to see him play, not too well if he goes to Celtic I may add."Before leaving Everton, Calvert-Lewin admitted it had been a "difficult decision" to leave Merseyside.He posted to Instagram: "After nine remarkable years I've made the incredibly difficult decision - together with my family - to begin a new chapter in my career.Article continues below"This isn't something I chose lightly.
