Royal Challengers Bengaluru's celebrations to mark their IPL 2025 triumph took a tragic turn on Wednesday as 11 people lost their lives and over 30 were left injured in a stampede during the trophy parade outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Lakhs of people converged at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium to celebrate RCB’s first-ever Indian Premier League triumph.

However, the festivities soon turned into tragedy as the police stationed at the venue struggled to control the huge crowd, resulting in a stampede.

In the aftermath of the tragic incident, RCB released a statement, urging supporters to be safe and amending their celebration program.

“We are deeply anguished by the unfortunate incidents that have come to light through media reports regarding public gatherings all over Bengaluru in anticipation of the team’s arrival this afternoon. The safety and well-being of everyone is of utmost importance to us,” the statement read.

“RCB mourns the tragic loss of lives and extends our heartfelt condolences to the affected families. Immediately upon being made aware of the situation, we promptly amended our program and followed the guidance and advice of the local administration. We urge all our supporters to please stay safe.”

The injured are currently being treated at the nearby Vydehi hospital and Bowering hospital.

Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar also shared his condolences over the incident. “What happened at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, is beyond tragic. My heart goes out to every affected family. Wishing peace and strength to all,” he said.
