The Four Teams Who Will Have To Give Liverpool The Guard Of Honour And When

Liverpool are Premier League champions once again, and with four games left to spare, they did it as comfortably as you could possibly hope for.

Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool managed to do it with an incredible seven games to spare back in 2020, but most PL winning sides clinch the title on the last, or second last day of the season.

As is tradition, when a team is crowned champions while there are games still to be played, those teams welcome to new champions with a guard of honour before each game.

This actually isn't a rule enforced by the PL, but traditionally it has always been done, and there are four sides who will be expected to take part in this ritual over the next month.

4. Chelsea - Sunday 4th May, Stamford Bridge

Chelsea will be the first team to welcome Liverpool as champions as they face them on May 4th, and will likely deliever the guard of honour as the Reds emerge from the tunnel at Stamford Bridge.

3. Arsenal - Sunday 11th May, Anfield

As Liverpool's nearest rivals for the title, this one will be particularly bitter for Arsenal to take, especially as they have came so close to winning it in the past two seasons.

2. Brighton - Monday 9th May, American Express Stadium

The last Monday Night Football of the season will kick off with Brighton forming a guard of honour for the travelling Reds.

Former Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister will be greeted with a hero's welcome by a lot of his former teammates, while ex Anfield hero James Milner could be in the guard applauding his old friends.

1. Crystal Palace - Sunday 25th May, Anfield

On Sunday the 25th of May, Liverpool will lift the Premier League trophy in front of a packed out Anfield for the first time in its history.

The last time the hoisted the cup was back in 2020 at the height of COVID, so fans were not allowed in the stadium, but things will be very different this time and the party is expected to be a big one.
