Son Heung-min has reportedly submitted a complaint to South Korean police over a woman who has allegedly blackmailed him with a false pregnancy claim.

A woman in her 20s and a man in his 40s are being investigated by police in Seoul on charges of attempted extortion, according to the Yonhap News Agency and The Korea Times.

Son reportedly said that they falsely told him the woman was pregnant in an effort to extort several hundred million won from him. One British pound is roughly equivalent to 1,859 South Korean won.

His legal team claim that she claimed she was pregnant in June last year and demanded money in return for remaining silent.

The Tottenham captain filed his complaint to police last week.

Son, 32, does not have a wife or any known children.

He has previously hinted that he does not want to have any kids until he is retired because he would like to devote himself to football.

The forward's contract with Spurs expires next year.

'My father says this and I agree, as well. When you marry, the number one will be family, wife and kids, and then football. I want to make sure that while I play at the top level, football can be number one,' he told The Guardian in 2019.

'You don’t know how long you can play at the top level. When you retire, or when you are 33 or 34, you can still have a long life with your family.'

He has, in the past, dated Korean pop stars Bang Min-ah and Yoo So-young.

The ordeal comes as something of a distraction as Tottenham seek to win their first silverware in 17 years.

Spurs are targeting Champions League qualification via their Europa League final clash with Manchester United on May 21.
