NEW DELHI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed important updates regarding its two major upcoming global women’s tournaments, which will take place in India and England over the next nine months. These include confirmation of dates and venues for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, as well as details of the opening matches and knockout stages for both the 2025 World Cup and the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 will see eight teams compete in a round-robin format across 28 league matches. Scheduled from 30 September to 2 November, the tournament will be played at five venues: M. Chinnaswamy Stadium (Bengaluru), ACA Stadium (Guwahati), Holkar Stadium (Indore), ACA-VDCA Stadium (Visakhapatnam), and R. Premadasa Stadium (Colombo, Sri Lanka).India will begin the tournament in Bengaluru, marking the return of the Women’s Cricket World Cup to the country after 12 years. The last ICC global women’s tournament hosted in India was the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2016, held alongside the men’s event.The knockout stage venues will depend on whether Pakistan qualifies, with alternative venues planned accordingly.The final is scheduled for 2 November and will be played either in Bengaluru or Colombo. The first semifinal is set for 29 October in either Guwahati or Colombo, while the second semifinal will take place in Bengaluru on 30 October. Colombo will only host the first semifinal and the final if Pakistan makes it to those stages.ICC Chairman Mr. Jay Shah said: "We are excited to make some important announcements regarding two global women’s tournaments to be hosted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the England and Wales Cricket Board in the coming months. Fans have shown great support for the women’s game in recent years, and I am sure they will start planning for these showpiece events now that they have key dates and venues. Women’s cricket stands at the forefront of our vision, and we are confident that these two upcoming tournaments will not only sustain the incredible momentum we've built in recent years but lift it to greater heights. ”In addition, Edgbaston in Birmingham will host the opening game of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, with England Women beginning their campaign on 12 June.Following the opening fixture, the tournament will span several venues across the country before culminating in London. The Oval is set to host both semifinal matches on 30 June and 2 July 2026, while the final will be played at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground on 5 July 2026. Tickets will start at £20 for adults and £10 for juniors for the semifinals, and from £30 and £15 for the final.The 2026 T20 World Cup will run for 24 days and include 33 matches at seven leading venues, such as Old Trafford (Manchester), Headingley (Leeds), The Hampshire Bowl (Southampton), and Bristol County Ground.An expanded lineup of 12 teams will battle for the coveted title, currently held by New Zealand. Eight teams have already qualified, while the final four spots will be filled through a Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier next year.
