Paul Scholes reacted in a telling way to Gary Neville’s Premier League prediction for the Manchester United match against Brighton at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Manchester United are ninth in the Premier League table and the Red Devils are one point clear of 10th-place Brighton ahead of their encounter on the weekend.

The Red Devils have won three of their last five Premier League matches after a turnaround in form for the club under Ruben Amorim in recent weeks.

United have built momentum after a shaky start to the 2025-26 Premier League season and the Red Devils have won back-to-back league matches now.

The Red Devils defeated Sunderland 2-0 at Old Trafford ahead of the October international break before United beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield last Sunday.

United legends Neville and Scholes took on the team of Ian Wright, Roy Keane and Jill Scott and the Red Devils’ encounter with Brighton sparked interesting reactions.

Responding immediately to United vs Brighton, Neville said on The Overlap: “United. This is it. I know, but 3-1 United.

“Yup, I know [the time of kick-off]. I’m doing the game.”

Neville then asked Scholes: “3-1 United? They can’t lose Saturday. They can’t, honestly.”

Scholes initially appeared reluctant to back Neville’s prediction before the former United and England midfielder settled on the Sky Sports pundit’s scoreline call.

“3-1 United? Yeah. Go on then,” he said in response.

Paul Scholes shares a warning about Man Utd vs Brighton, despite Gary Neville remaining firm on the scoreline

The Red Devils are only two points outside of the Premier League top four after United’s stunning victory over fierce rivals Liverpool at Anfield last weekend.

Neville put his foot down even further and added that he could not see the Red Devils suffering a defeat to Brighton after their recent run of form.

“Yeah, I’m not honestly, we’re not losing Saturday,” he said.

However, Scholes could be heard warning Neville that the scoreline might not be reflective of what he expects to happen at Old Trafford on Saturday evening.

“I think there could be a lot of goals in that game,” he added.

United and Brighton’s Premier League encounter at Old Trafford is slated for a 5:30pm UK kick-off time this weekend.
