Victor Osimhen transfer future up in the air, Napoli striker attracted to 'burning magnetism' of Man Utd

Manchester United have no shortage of striker options in the transfer market.

It has been widely reported that Manchester United will sign a new striker this summer.

Ruben Amorim has already enhanced his attack with United signing Matheus Cunha from Wolves. The Brazilian forward scored 17 goals in the Premier League last term, compared to United’s league total of 44.

Nobody can overlook Rasmus Hojlund’s role in United’s struggle to score goals because the Denmark international managed just 10 goals in 52 appearances last term. That is one of the biggest reasons why United are trying to sign a goalscorer before the start of the new season.

United had a second bid rejected for Bryan Mbeumo last week, though Ineos remain confident they can strike a deal with Brentford.

Then, the attention will shift to which striker United want to sign and they have many options available to them. Amorim will be keen on finding the right one to suit his system at Old Trafford.

Victor Osimhen attracted to Manchester United

United have already been linked with several strikers this summer.

Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres remains a top target, while Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa recently emerged as an option if Hojlund is sold.

According to a claim from Italian press, United could still be an option for Napoli forward Victor Osimhen.

The Nigerian striker spent last season on loan at Galatasaray and despite attempts from the Turkish side to keep him, it seems his future may be elsewhere after turning down advances from Saudi Arabia.

Sport Witness cites claims from Gazzetta dello Sport that suggest Osimhen’s future is in limbo.

The 26-year-old, who is currently away on holiday, has been given no clarity on where he will be playing his football next season.

United are reported as a possibility, with Ineos yet to make up their mind about who their preference is going to be. The Italian newspaper claims Osimhen is attracted to the ‘burning magnetism’ that surrounds United.

Moreover, Corriere del Mezzogiorno (also cited by Sport Witness) suggest Napoli are keen to get Osimhen off the wage bill. The Italian outlet also hints that the striker’s wage demands may prove to be a stumbling block for United.

Osimhen in same situation as Marcus Rashford

There are comparisons to be made between Osimhen and Rashford this summer.

Both players find themselves unwanted at their current clubs, earning hefty wages and finding it difficult to attract firm interest.

Osimhen and Rashford will hope their futures eventually sort themselves out before the season begins. They are both aiming for big moves, but their salary demands could be what holds them back.

Meanwhile, Rashford is dreaming of a transfer to Barcelona.

Perhaps this is a warning sign for United to stay clear.
