Liverpool boss Arne Slot is reportedly set to sting two Red Devils legends

Liverpool have reportedly agreed a new signing which will come as a blow to Manchester United legends Gary Neville and David Beckham. It has already been a busy summer at Anfield, with the Reds adding a number of top players to their squad. They kicked off their business by signing Jeremie Frimpong before landing Florian Wirtz in a club-record deal worth around £116million. Milos Kerkez became the next player to arrive, joining the club from Bournemouth. Liverpool have also brought in young goalkeeper Armin Pecsi from Hungarian side Puskas Akademia. They are now thought to be closing in on another deal which will bring a sense of satisfaction for Reds supporters. Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT

Liverpool are set to land Salford City youngster Will Wright for a six-figure transfer fee, according to talkSPORT. The deal will bring extra significance given that Salford are owned by United icons Neville and Beckham. Wright looks to have a bright future, having already scored three goals for Salford in pre-season matches. The 17-year-old played just twice in League Two last season but has excelled for the club's youth sides. Liverpool clearly see something in Wright and will be looking to aid his development over the coming years. His potential would give him a high resale value, potentially allowing the Reds to make a serious profit further down the line. Any chance of Wright making a first-team debut in the near future would appear to be slim, given that Liverpool are said to be chasing a blockbuster move for Alexander Isak. It was reported on Tuesday that senior Reds figures had reached out to Newcastle to register their interest in doing business. Meanwhile, it has been claimed by The Telegraph that the Magpies are braced for an offer in the region of £130m. This would smash Liverpool's existing transfer record and set a new benchmark for the most expensive deal in British football history. Newcastle chiefs are said to be angry with the Reds for making what they feel is a deliberate attempt to unsettle Isak. A formal bid is yet to be submitted but it seems clear that Liverpool want the 25-year-old to lead the line for them next season.

So far, the Magpies have maintained that Isak is not for sale with Eddie Howe making it clear that he does not want to lose the Swedish striker. Earlier this year, the Newcastle boss said: "Alexander is not for sale. I want to build a squad, I want the strongest possible squad for next season. "We have a strong squad and if we can add some players for the first time in a few transfer windows, that will make a big difference for us. That's what I'm focused on, not the other way around."
