‘Modern sports infrastructure being built as per CM’s vision’

LAHORE:Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Muzaffar Khan Sial said that modern sports infrastructure is being constructed across the Punjab province in accordance with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister for the promotion of sports culture among the youth. “The talented male and female athletes of the province will get plenty of opportunities to flourish in their respective game disciplines after the completion of modern sports infrastructure”. He shared these thoughts while presiding over a meeting at the Punjab Stadium.

DG Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab Khizar Afzaal, Additional Secretary Mian Usman Ali, Director Admin Dr M Kaleem, Project Director PMU Qaiser Raza and other officials participated in the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, Muzaffar Sial said that the best sports infrastructure is being constructed in all the districts of the province. “It is our prime objective to provide maximum sports facilities to the talented athletes across the Punjab province”.

Secretary Sports Punjab Muzaffar Sial directed the officers concerned to complete five sports schemes in different cities of province by June under Sustainable Development Programme. He directed the officers concerned to finish the construction work of Kot Pindi Das Sheikhupura Cricket Stadium, Kabaddi Ground Sargodha Road Faisalabad, Basirpur and Haveli Lakha Sports Stadium by the end of next month. “The construction of Badho Malhi Narowal Football Ground should also be completed within the given time frame,” he added.

He ordered the Deputy Director Planning Tariq Khanzada and Section Officer Mirza Nadeem to visit all under construction sports schemes and submit a detailed report about the quality of construction material and other key features of these sports schemes.

Meanwhile, Muzaffar Sial while presiding over another meeting has issued orders to remove the objections relating to 24 sports development schemes. “More than 50 sports development schemes will be completed during the next month (June)”.

He said that Shafiq Chishti Sports Stadium has been completed in Sahiwal and 24 more sports schemes will also be completed this year. “Plenty of effective measures are being taken for the true promotion of sports culture among the younger generation,” he added.
