Marcus Rashford hits out at major problems at Man United – 'Transition hasn't started yet!'Following his loan move to Barcelona, Marcus Rashford has hit out at Manchester United's direction ever since Sir Alex Ferguson retired from managementMarcus Rashford spoke honestly about his thoughts on Manchester United's struggles (Image: Spotify/The Rest is Football podcast)Marcus Rashford believes Manchester United have never properly adapted after Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement in 2013.Rashford, 27, has been sent on loan to Barcelona for the season after being loaned to Aston Villa for the second half of the last campaign. The United academy graduate does not appear to have a future at Old Trafford while Ruben Amorim is in charge. The forward has been part of the club for the last 20 years, witnessing the glory years of Ferguson's reign while in the academy system before breaking into the first team under Louis van Gaal. Having experienced the reigns of Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ralf Rangnick, Erik ten Hag and, briefly, Amorim, Rashford believes the problems at United have been the same - a lack of transition.Speaking to Gary Lineker and Micah Richards on The Rest Is Football podcast, Rashford said: "At times I feel like United has been… we’re hungry to win, so we will always try to adapt and sign players that fit this system, but it’s reactionary. If your directions are always changing, you can’t expect to win the league."You might win some cup tournaments, but it’s because you have a good coach, good players and you have match winners in your team, you’re not there by accident. This is what some people forget."Yeah we have been way lower than what people deem United to be, but if you take a step back, which I’ve been able to do, especially over the last six months, what do you expect?Article continues below"People say we have been in a transition for years. To be in a transition you need to start a transition. It’s like the actual transition has not started yet."Rashford played under several managers at Old Trafford (Image: AFP via Getty Images)Referencing the early struggles Jurgen Klopp endured as Liverpool manager, Rashford added: "When Liverpool went through this with Klopp, they stuck with him. They didn’t win anything in the beginning."People only remember his final few years when he was competing with City and winning the biggest trophies, they did not win anything at the beginning. To start a transition, you have to make a plan and stick to it."This is where I want to speak about being realistic with what your situation is. I feel like we’ve had that many different managers and different ideas and different strategies in order to win, you end up in the middle of them, you end up in no man’s land."Rashford was sent on loan to Barcelona (Image: 2024 Soccrates Images B.V.)As they did on a regular basis while Rashford was at Old Trafford, United have invested a lot of money this summer. With Rashford being loaned to Barcelona and United also trying to usher Jadon Sancho, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho out of the door, Amorim has mainly focused on his attacking options.Close to £200million has been spent on signing Matheus Cunha from Wolves, Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford and Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig. The Red Devils have also been strongly linked with Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba, who is valued by the Seagulls at around £100m.United's campaign begins this weekend with a difficult home clash against Arsenal. Meanwhile, Rashford's first La Liga match with the Catalans will be on Saturday when they travel to face Mallorca.Article continues below
