N Sriram Balaji and his Mexican partner Miguel Ángel Reyes-Varela bowed out of the French Open 2025 tennis after a straight-sets defeat in the second round of the men’s doubles on Saturday.

The Indo-Mexican duo went down 6-3, 6-4 against fourth seeds Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori of Italy.

The Indian tennis player and Miguel Ángel Reyes-Varela were broken in the fourth game of the first set and the seventh of the second.

Balaji’s defeat marks the second Indian exit from the men’s doubles draw. Rithvik Bollipalli and Colombian partner Nicolas Barrientos were ousted in the first round earlier this week.

India’s hopes in the men’s doubles now rest with veteran Rohan Bopanna and Yuki Bhambri.

Bopanna, along with Adam Pavlasek of Czechia, and Yuki Bhambri, along with Robert Galloway of the United States of America, made progress on Friday after winning their respective second-round matches.

Bopanna and Pavlasek fought back from a set down and will face Great Britain’s Henry Patten and Harri Heliovaara from Finland in the next round.

Last year, Rohan Bopanna and his former partner Matthew Ebden reached the French Open semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Yuki Bhambri and Robert Galloway also came from a set down against the ninth-seeded American pair of Christian Harrison and Evan King.

Both Rohan Bopanna and Yuki Bhambri will be in action in the next round in their respective men’s doubles matches on Sunday.
