David Ornstein Drops Exciting Liverpool Transfer Claim Alongside Frimpong

Liverpool are currently involved in multiple conversations about potential summer signings, including Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong, journalist David Ornstein has revealed.

The Premier League champions are anticipating a busy transfer window following their first year under Arne Slot and are believed to be eyeing several reinforcements to strengthen their title-winning squad.

While they are in advanced talks to make Frimpong their first summer arrival at Anfield, the Reds are also considering bolstering other positions, including potentially signing a new striker to replace Darwin Nunez.

Reds are attracted by the 24-year-old’s release clause

Ornstein, speaking on The Athletic Insiders WhatsApp channel, has revealed that Frimpong could seal a move to Liverpool once the Bundesliga season concludes this weekend, as the Reds are ‘attracted’ by his low release clause:

“It's a busy one for Liverpool. They're involved in multiple conversations about potential acquisitions in the summer transfer window. “One that we're reporting on The Athletic involves Jeremie Frimpong, the Bayer Leverkusen, right-back, Netherlands international, somebody Liverpool have been heavily linked with for some days now. “And we can confirm that talks are advancing, and there is growing optimism in the player’s camp that a deal will be struck to take him to Anfield. “We know that the player is keen on the potential move, and therefore personal terms will not be a problem. “And Liverpool are attracted by his release clause, which is in the region of 35 million euros, pretty low for such a good player at such a good age, 24, and it's a clean method of doing things which always appeals to Liverpool. “Now it's not done, but I think Bayer Leverkusen and the player himself would want this to be resolved once the Bundesliga season finishes, and that's this coming Saturday. So it's a case of watch this space.”

Liverpool have endured two fairly quiet transfer windows under Slot, with Federico Chiesa their only first-team addition last summer.

While goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is expected to join from Valencia in the coming weeks, outfield reinforcements are also anticipated, with Trent Alexander-Arnold set to join Real Madrid.

The Reds were quick to identify Frimpong as a potential successor to the England international on the right-hand side of defence and could end up welcoming two new full-backs this summer.

According to Ornstein, they also remain interested in Bournemouth sensation Milos Kerkez, who could arrive as a long-term successor to Andy Robertson on the left.
