Maharashtra won the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy 2025 Elite title by defeating Madhya Pradesh by 12 runs in the final held at the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium in Surat on Friday.The Senior Women’s T20 Trophy is one of India’s top domestic T20 cricket tournaments, organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) annually.Put into bat first, Maharashtra posted 102/9 in the first innings after the match was reduced to 14 overs per side due to rain. Tejal Hasabnis top-scored with a 24-ball 30 while Shuchi Upadhyay was the standout bowler for Madhya Pradesh, claiming 4/20 in her three overs.Madhya Pradesh fell short in their chase of 103, finishing at 90/9 in 14 overs. Opener Jincy George’s run-a-ball 26 was the top scorer while Ishita Khale (3/17) and BM Mirajkar (3/19) led Maharashtra’s defence.Started in 2008-09 as the Senior Women's T20 League, the 2025 edition marked the 17th edition of the T20 women’s cricket tournament with 37 teams in action.This was Maharashtra’s maiden title at the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy. They finished as the runners-up five times previously and last made it to the final in 2022, when they were beaten by Railways by seven wickets.Earlier in the day, Maharashtra lost Kiran Navgire in the first over but Gautami Naik (22 off 17) and Tejal Hasabnis (30 off 24) did the rebuilding with a steady 34-run stand, which turned out to be the highest partnership of the match. Once the duo fell, the middle order struggled to capitalise on the start.Captain Anuja Patil contributed 12 off nine, while Shweta Mane chipped in with 21 from 17 balls, but wickets fell at regular intervals to halt any momentum. Maharashtra slid from 64/3 to 102/9 by the end of their 14 overs.In reply, openers Jincy George (26 off 26) and Anushka Sharma (20 off 15) helped Madhya Pradesh put on a 30-run partnership, but once they departed, the chase lost direction. Soumya Tiwari tried to revive the chase with a brisk 17 off 12 balls but regular wickets at the other end stalled the momentum.Led by Khale and Mirajkar, Maharashtra’s bowlers executed their plans with precision. Patil chipped in with 2/21, while MR Magre’s tight spell (1/15) helped maintain pressure in the middle overs.From 74/5 in the 12th over, Madhya Pradesh’s lower order couldn’t finish the job as Maharashtra closed out the innings with disciplined bowling and fielding.
