Eagles News: Packers dealing with “very concerning” wide receiver situation

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles news and links …

Packers-Eagles final injury report: Green Bay’s WR room is a mess - Acme Packing Company

On the Packers’ end of their injury report, the receiver situation is now very concerning. Jayden Reed is already on the injured reserve, and three of Green Bay’s other receivers, Matthew Golden (shoulder), Dontayvion Wicks (calf) and Savion Williams (foot) have been listed as questionable for the game. Despite the extra day of rest between games, none of them have been a full participant for a single practice this week, including Golden missing the last two practices entirely. On top of that, Christian Watson is on a pitch count, coming off his ACL tear, and isn’t even in a position where he’s been a full participant in a practice this week, either. Malik Heath also popped up on the injury report with a hip injury on Friday, making him a limited participant in the Packers’ final two practices of the week. If you’re keeping track, yes, the only healthy receiver in Green Bay is Romeo Doubs. Don’t be surprised if there’s a practice squad call-up made on Sunday to help the team’s skeleton crew at the position.

Eagles-Packers Game Preview: 5 questions and answers with the Week 10 enemy - BGN

1 - For some reason, I get the sense you’re not feeling so great about the Packers at the moment. What about them concerns you? This team has scored 29 total points in its two losses this year. If Matt LaFleur sees two-high defenses, he defaults to a failing running game or the quick passing game. The quick passing game survived against the Pittsburgh Steelers because Tucker Kraft had the most YAC yards of any tight end since a 2018 George Kittle game, but he went down with a torn ACL against the Panthers. On the season, Kraft has more YAC yards than all of the Packers’ other WRs and TEs combined. LaFleur is scared of split safety defenses, and his easy button is not coming back for the rest of the year.

Eagles notes: Why Jaelan Phillips calls trade ‘greatest thing that’s happened to me’ - The Athletic

Speaking of returning to Lambeau Field, this is Jalen Hurts’ first time playing on the famed tundra since his rookie season, when he replaced Carson Wentz in the second half of a Week 13 game against the Packers in a stadium that was empty because of the COVID-19 pandemic. That day changed his career. Hurts became the starter the next week. The Eagles traded Wentz a few months later. The Eagles soon became Hurts’ franchise.

“No one was there,” Hurts said of that day. “We hadn’t played at Lambeau Field since then. I think it could be a little nostalgic. I remember not winning the game. We should have won the game.” When asked if that day proved he could play in the NFL, Hurts smiled and said he already knew it from practice. “When you get an opportunity like that, you don’t want to look back,” Hurts said. “I’m fortunate, we’re fortunate, to have done a lot of winning since that point. That was a key point in my career.” Even if Hurts played in an empty Lambeau Field, that’s more than Barkley can say. This is his first time playing in Green Bay in his seven-year career. He’s played the Packers five times in four locations: East Rutherford, N.J., Philadelphia, São Paulo, and London. “I’m excited for the environment and as a fan of football, the history of it,” Barkley said. “I’m not getting goosebumps to play at Lambeau Field, but as a fan of the game, it’ll definitely be cool. For me, I think I have one or two more stadiums I’ve never played in as an NFL guy. So I get to knock that off the list.”

In Roob’s Observations: The gap between the Eagles and rest of NFC keeps growing - NBCSP

The Eagles didn’t technically clinch the NFC East during the bye week, but that tired stat about how no team has won consecutive division titles since the 2003 and 2004 Eagles? We can say good-bye to that. Yeah, all three other division teams lost. And that’s big. And yeah, the Eagles have a three-game lead in the NFC East with half a season to play. But what was really striking about Week 9 was seeing just how much of a mess the Cowboys, Commanders and Giants really are. The Cowboys have lost three of their last four, their quarterback is 32, they have the 2nd-worst defense in the NFL and they’ve won four playoff games since 1996. The Commanders have already lost more games than last year, they have no clue how to keep their gifted young quarterback healthy, they have the oldest roster in football and their quarterback is now a 32-year-old who’s won eight games since 2019. The Giants somehow beat the Eagles a few weeks ago, but that’s their only win since Week 4, their gifted young quarterback is taking a beating every time he goes out on the field, they have the 29th-ranked defense in football, their coach keeps coming unhinged after every bad call and they’ve won one playoff game in the last 14 years. A glance around the NFC East truly hammers home just how much stronger and more stable the Eagles’ franchise is than any other team in the division. They have the best owner, G.M., coach, quarterback and roster in the NFC East, and it’s not close. The Cowboys, Commanders and Giants aren’t just losing, they’re giving their fans no hope that they even have a clue how to turn things around. And the Eagles just keep rolling. If the Cowboys go 4-4 the rest of the year – and I can’t imagine that happening – the Eagles would need to go just 2-7 to clinch the division. If the Eagles go 6-3 the rest of the year, they clinch the division even if the other teams suddenly start winning every game. Having a magic number of six with half the season left is crazy. The Eagles aren’t just better than every other in the NFC East, they’re the only team that has a vision for the future. Sorry, NFC East. They’re not going away.

Eagles at Packers Daily Updates: Brandon Graham is pumped for his season debut - PE.com

Brandon Graham will play his first game as an Eagle this season against the Packers on Monday Night Football. After a brief retirement, Graham is back for his 16th season, which will officially kick off in Week 10. The 37-year-old had a strong year last season before it was cut short due to a triceps injury, but he rehabbed quickly and returned for Super Bowl LIX. Now, he’s looking to add some juice to the pass rush room, but he’s entering the year with a clean slate. “I’m excited, man. No expectations, just going out there, just like it’s been in practice,” Graham said. “It’s been [me] enjoying the time. And I’m just excited to see these boys, because they put some work in this weekend. Just bringing the energy, man.”

Report: Google, Disney are negotiating today to restore ESPN to YouTube TV - PFT

Meanwhile, YouTube TV will provide customers with a $20 credit if no deal is reached. Even if a deal is done, hopefully there will be a credit for the eight days (so far) that have entailed YouTube TV not delivering on the channels for which it has charged. For now, we can at least hope that, by Monday night, the Eagles-Packers game will be available on ESPN and ABC. And then, by Wednesday afternoon, ESPN can avoid having to come up with a clunky P.R. spin aimed at making depressed viewership numbers look better than they were.

Check the tape: Why Quinnen Williams is the standout player the Cowboys have been looking for - Blogging The Boys

The Dallas Cowboys made a big splash this week when they traded for New York Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams. The former Alabama stud defender was highly coveted coming out of college, which is why he was selected third overall in the 2019 NFL draft. He’s been sensational from the onset. Despite being known as a run-stopping specialist, he has surprisingly good pass-rushing skills, racking up at least 5.5 sacks in each of the last five seasons. He compiled an amazing 12 sacks in 2022, earning first-team All-Pro honors. To land Williams, the Cowboys will give up the better of the two first-round picks from 2027, one of which they gained from the Micah Parsons trade. Additionally, they gave up their second-round pick from the 2026 draft. Because of draft pick depreciation, the value of a 2027 first-rounder is equivalent to a second-round pick in 2026. So essentially, they got Williams for two second-round picks. That’s a good value for a player of his caliber. [BLG Note: Lol, that’s not how that works.]

What Jayden Daniels’ elbow injury means for fantasy football - SB Nation

Nov 7 update: Ian Rapoport is reporting that Daniels got positive news from his MRI and medical opinions. His dislocated elbow does not include any ligament damage and he won’t need surgery. The injury is not as serious as originally anticipated, and the Commanders will not immediately place him on injured reserve.

Daily Slop - 8 Nov 25 - President Donald Trump will be in the owner’s box on Sunday; wants new Commanders stadium named for him - Hogs Haven

President Donald Trump wants the Washington Commanders to name their planned $3.7 billion stadium after him, multiple sources with knowledge of the situation told ESPN.

Giants-Bears pre-game analysis: Brian Daboll needs to protect Jaxson Dart - Big Blue View

One thing, though, should GUARANTEE Daboll gets himself fired. That would be if he gets the prized rookie quarterback badly hurt by continuing to play him at the end of blowout games, especially if he continues to allow designed quarterback runs to be called in those blowout situations. That is precisely what Daboll and the Giants have done the past two weeks. Against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 8, Daboll left Dart in the game after the Eagles scored to take a 25-point lead, 38-13, with 5:59 to play. Yes, the Giants. But, who cares? Two designed quarterback runs, one of which Dart scored on, exposed him to unnecessary hits. Against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 9, Daboll left Dart in for the final 4:13 despite the 49ers leading by an insurmountable 17 points. Again, Dart led a garbage-time scoring drive. Again, who cares? Was it really worth the risk to the future of the franchise?
