Springer was down for several minutes before he was able to walk off the field with trainers.

The 35-year-old is undergoing further examination, but "is doing alright," manager John Schneider told Sportsnet's Shi Davidi.

Schneider said the ball hit Springer's shoulder before deflecting into his head and added the slugger was alert the whole time after being hit.

Springer is in the midst of one of the best seasons of his career, slashing .291/.383/.506 with 18 home runs, 57 RBIs, and 12 steals in 101 games.
