The battle lines are drawn for this year’s Laver Cup in San Francisco, with Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo joining Team World and rising Czech star Jakub Mensik and Italy’s Flavio Cobolli joining Team Europe, thus completing both star-studded rosters.

The Laver Cup will take place at the state-of-the-art Chase Center, home of the seven-time NBA Champion Golden State Warriors and WNBA’s Golden State Valkyries, from September 19–21, 2025. This will be the eighth edition of the event and the first time it has been staged on the U.S. West Coast, with Chase Center transforming into a world-class tennis arena for the first time in its history.

Team World will feature Americans Taylor Fritz (World No. 4), Ben Shelton (No. 6), Tommy Paul (No. 14) and Frances Tiafoe (No. 17), alongside Brazilian prodigy João Fonseca (No. 44) and Cerundolo (No. 19) under the leadership of Captain Andre Agassi and Vice Captain Pat Rafter.

Team Europe, captained by Yannick Noah alongside Vice Captain Tim Henman, will bring a formidable lineup with Carlos Alcaraz (World No.2), Alexander Zverev (No. 3), Holger Rune (No. 11) and Casper Ruud (No.12), plus Mensik (No. 16) and Cobolli (No. 26).

Europe currently leads the all-time Laver Cup series 5-2, edging out Team World in a thrilling contest last year in Berlin. But, with two highly competitive line-ups suiting up for the 2025 edition and passionate Bay Area sports fans expected to fill the arena in support of their home team, the rivalry promises to reach new heights.

Cerundolo returns for his third Laver Cup, having played in Vancouver (2023) and Berlin (2024). Undefeated in the competition with a 2-0 record, he has established himself as a reliable player for Team World. His 2025 season has been marked by consistent results in ATP Masters 1000 events, reaching the semi-finals in Madrid and making quarter-final appearances in Miami and Indian Wells.

“I am really looking forward to returning to the Laver Cup,” said Cerundolo. “Putting on the red shirt and stepping out to represent Team World at Chase Center is going to be a great honour. The atmosphere will be electric, and with our fans behind us, I believe we have what it takes to beat Team Europe this year.”

Captain Agassi agrees and is looking forward to the battle ahead on home soil. “I am excited about our team and looking forward to competing against a formidable Team Europe come September 19.”

Mensik will make his Laver Cup debut this year, bringing one of the most exciting young prospects on tour to San Francisco for Team Europe. At just 19 years old, he leads the PIF ATP Live Race to Jeddah and is No. 16 in the PIF ATP Rankings. He made history earlier this year by defeating Novak Djokovic to capture the ATP Masters 1000 title in Miami, becoming the fifth-youngest champion at that level.

“I’ve heard so much about the Laver Cup - how intense and special the event is,” said Mensik. “Representing Europe with players like Carlos and Sascha is a dream come true for me and I am truly honored to be part of the team.

Cobolli, an alternate for Team Europe last year in Berlin, will make his second Laver Cup appearance in 2025, this time as a starter. The 23-year-old has enjoyed a strong season with a quarter-final run at Wimbledon and title wins at ATP events in Hamburg and Bucharest.

“The Laver Cup is one of the most exciting events in our sport,” said Cobolli. “It was incredible to be part of it last year, and it was my goal to play this year. To be named to the team and compete for Team Europe will be really special, I cannot wait.”

This will be Noah’s first year as Team Europe Captain, having taken over the reins from Bjorn Borg, and he is feeling confident in his team.

“Winning the Laver Cup is always a challenge, and this year will be no different. Our team has the talent, experience and the hunger to defend the Laver Cup against a very strong Team World and we are all ready to go,” said Noah.

The Laver Cup pits six of the best men’s tennis players from Europe against six of their counterparts from the rest of the World in a thrilling three-day competition. Named in honour of Australian legend Rod Laver, the event features a combination of singles and doubles matches with a scoring system that ensures a thrilling climax on the final day.

Each team’s six players must all compete in one singles match during the first two days, and no more than two during the three-day competition. At least four of the six players must play doubles. Each match win is worth one point on Friday, two points on Saturday, and three points on Sunday, with the first team to reach 13 points winning the Laver Cup.

A limited number of upper level tickets for Friday and Sunday are available via Ticketmaster, the official ticketing partner of Chase Center.
