More infoManchester United got Matheus Cunha through the door earlier this month but, since then, transfer business has been much more difficult to complete.United paid £62.5million for the Wolves star, while the initial plan has been to follow that up with Bryan Mbeumo. However, a move for the Brentford star has failed to gather pace in the last week with Tottenham joining the race. There's also the subject of a new centre-forward and possible outgoings to raise funds. Between now and United's first pre-season friendly against Leeds on July 19, there's plenty of transfer business to get done.So with that in mind, The Manchester Evening News brings you two latest stories involving United;Gyokeres 'rejected' reason givenPortuguese outlet Record reported on Saturday morning that Viktor Gyokeres has "rejected the chance" to join United. It now seems that Arsenal are pole position to land the striker. It's claimed that United chiefs have recently been in contact with Sporting CP, and Gyokeres, this week - but their offer failed to convince the forward. Financial issues, a lack of European football and "greater sporting risk" brought with a move to Old Trafford have been flagged up.The same report adds that Arsenal have had a bid worth £55million rejected. The Manchester Evening News' Josh Holland says: "Should the report from Portugal be true, then it leaves United without two of their first-choice targets this summer after Liam Delap rejected them for Chelsea. However, with Gyokeres, many have long viewed him as the perfect signing to improve Amorim's attack. Him rejecting a move to Old Trafford means United now have to ponder their other options."If Gyokeres goes to Arsenal and these reasons behind his United snub are true, United will have suffered another blow as a result of their poor season."Two alternatives to Mbeumo linkedIf history repeats itself and United miss out on Mbeumo, like they have done with Delap and seemingly Gyokeres, ESPN have reported that they are considering Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo and Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze.Semenyo was previously tipped to move to Old Trafford earlier this year while Eze has been linked with Aston Villa and Tottenham. The Sun have claimed that Palace will only accept a sale for his £65million release clause.Bournemouth, who are set to lose Milos Kerkez to Liverpool, reportedly value Semenyo at £70million.The Manchester Evening News' Josh Holland says: "If United miss out on Mbeumo for around £60million, they will be faced with coughing up more money for players who are not their first-choice targets. Mbeumo not joining would be a disaster but the signing of Eze is definitely a better option to Semenyo. As a creative individual, the England international is the better fit than the Bournemouth star."Get United transfer news and updates on WhatsApp!
